Envision Williamston Awards Main Street Winner
Envision Williamston, in partnership with Town of Williamston reopened the Main Street Challenge New Business Program. The Main Street Challenge is an entrepreneurial start-up competition for the purpose of generating additional retail occupancy in downtown Williamston.
The Main Street Challenge offered an incentive package up to $5,000 for a new retail business or restaurant to locate in downtown Williamston no later than October 30, 2022.
Depending on applicants, there was to be one award of $5,000 or two awards of $2,500.
Main Street Challenge applications were due March 15, 2022.
Envision Williamston Choose Raines In Williamston as The Main Street Challenge Winner. They received their Award at the Williamston Town Counsil Meeting and Will Receive 6 Monthly Installment Payments.
Envision Williamston has also reopened the Façade Improvement Program which is designed to stimulate a limited number of additional improvements to the exterior of commercial buildings within the Town of Williamston.
Facade Grant applications must be turned in to the Envision Williamston’s drop box at Town
Hall by June 30.

Envision Williamston announces Main Street Challenge winners
Envision Williamston recently announced winners of the Main Street Challenge grant program for 2019. The winners are Travis McCurly “Brew N Q” and Kristy Johnston “Phoenix: Born Again Retail”. Brew N Q is currently a BBQ catering company, competition BBQ cook team and soon to be restaurant to locate in Williamston. In addition to low and slow smoked BBQ, homemade sides and desserts, they plan to use SC certified products and offer local craft beer from the Upstate. Phoenix will be a gift, consignment and resale shop. They plan to offer quality clothing, children’s items, accessories and gifts at affordable prices. The winners are eligible for up to $10,000 in incentives offered through the Envision Williamston Main Street Challenge. Congratulations to Travis and Kristy!
Envision Williamston announces Mural Contest Winners
The winners are:
1) Heather Dowell for her design of “Mineral Waters: Then and Now”
2) J. Thomas Addison for his design of “Unbroken Chain of Mineral Spring Water”
3) Rebecca Vaughn for her design of “Modern Spring.”

Envision Williamston announces Main Street Challenge Winners
Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall announced the winners of the Main Street Challenge for two new business start-ups during the Williamston Town Council meeting Monday. The winning applicants include an event venue and a sandwich shop and deli, that will both be located in the town of Williamston.
Recipients are Chris and Samantha Wagner who are planning to open an events venue at the Davenport House on West Main Street. Also Khaled Al Fackl and Imad and Rose Alchaieb who plan to open a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean Sandwich Shop and Deli. The winning applicants will each receive a grant totaling up to $10,000 to start up and operate their businesses.
EW Mural Design Contest – Now accepting entries
Envision Williamston, in cooperation with Historic Williamston and the Palmetto Area Cultural Arts Center, is sponsoring a Mural Design Competition for downtown Williamston. The purpose of the program is to brighten up the streetscape by adding artwork of two winners in highly visible locations in the downtown area.
The winner will receive $500 prize money and will be published in The Journal, on multiple Williamston websites and in print advertisements for the town.
Local artists may submit more than one drawing for consideration but must be at least age 14 to enter.
The deadline for submitting artwork is Dec. 8, 2017 and the winning artwork will be announced on Jan. 15, 2018.
“We are hoping to have the mural installed and the grand reveal of the murals by May, 2018,” said Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall.
The locations have been selected and are on the entry form.
“So if you have creative juices and artistic talent and would like to have your artwork on display in the downtown area, please pick up your Mural Guideline Package at Town Hall of you can view and print them online at envisionwilliamston.com,” Crandall said.
EW announces Mural Design Contest
Historic Williamston, The Palmetto Area Cultural Arts Center and Envision Williamston announce a Mural Design Contest for a mural project in Williamston. The project is a part of the Williamston Downtown Acceleration Program (WDAP) that is being funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
