Mural Design Contest

Historic Williamston, The Palmetto Area Cultural Arts Center and Envision Williamston announce a Mural Design Contest for a mural project in Williamston. The project is a part of the Williamston Downtown Acceleration Program (WDAP) that is being funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)

A mural is a painting, mosaic, fresco, or other permanent artwork attached or applied directly to the outside of a structure.
Four possible locations in Williamston have been selected as possible site including: 112AW.Main Street –
small white building facing the fire station, 17 Pelzer Avenue – Side of Goody’s; 100 E. Main Street – former movie theater; and site on Greenville Drive to be determined.
Goals of the project are to produce new murals that re-engage the community, especially youth and local artists, and create new opportunities for muralists.
To promote engagement activities that are interactive, educational, and/or cultural tourism opportunities.  To enhance the streetscape in the downtown historic Williamston area.

2017 Scarecrow Decorating Contest Underway!

The Historic Town of Williamston and the Envision Williamston, invite all area Residents and Businesses to participate in the 3rd Annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest. The official display period is from October  through November.

However, you may erect your display upon design approval. Registration deadline is ?? to be eligible for judging. Awards will be given for all categories and there will be a “People’s Award” for the overall best.

2016 Scarecrow Decorating Contest Winners:

Winners of the 2016 Scarecrow Decorating Contest sponsored by Envision Williamston were announced during the Williamston Town Council meeting Monday, Dec. 5, 2016.

Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall said thirty scarecrows were entered in the contest and decorated the town from October 17th through November 18th. Nearly 600 votes were cast for the People’s Choice Award, according to Crandall. A Judges’ Panel of experts judged the displays according to entry categories. Click here for list of winners

 

2016 Spring Photo Contest

Envision Williamston will sponsor their second community contest which will be a Spring Photo Contest “Williamston In Focus” April 1 through June 30, 2016.

Deadline to enter the Williamston in Focus Photography Contest is June 30. The contest will include a People’s Choice Grand Prize Winner. The $100 prize will be awarded courtesy of Palmetto Properties Real Estate, Inc. All area amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photos celebrating local historic, cultural, recreational or economic assets.

Photos taken within the past two years may be submitted in one of four categories: Williamston events, Williamston landmarks, Williamston businesses/organizations or Williamston people. Up to three photos may be submitted in each category and may be submitted in digital form online. Details are available here on the EW website at www.envisionwilliamston.com

2015 Scarecrow Decorating Contest
