Funding approved for EW projects

Williamston Town Council approved the Town’s Annual Budget for FY2016-17 on Monday evening (6/27). Envision Williamston was funded for a variety of economic and community development projects for next year including the following:

(1) An Electronic Message Board, full color (Promotions and Marketing)

(2) A Main Street Challenge, to be matched 2:1 with outside funds (Economic Development)

(3) Downtown Banners, to complement the electronic message board (Beautification)

(4) Community Activities, such as a public spaces clean-up day and a youth-oriented murals project (Community Engagement)

The EW Board wishes to thank the entire Town Council membership for their unanimous support.

“Our special thanks go out to Council Members Mayor Mack Durham, Councilman Tony Hagood, Councilman David Harvell, and Councilman Otis Scott,” Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall said. “We appreciate their dedicated leadership in making these projects possible for the Town! They are all our Economic Champions.”

Pursuant to our Economic Development and Placemaking Committee meeting also held last evening, we may be pursing the Adopt a Rest Stop project (Beautification), a Walmart Strategy project (Economic Development), and possibly a Facade Improvement program (also Beautification and Economic Development) with external funding – Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall
