Deadline extended for EW Facade Grant applications

The deadline for applications for round two of the Envision Williamston “Façade Improvement Grant Program,” has been extended through December 29, 2017. Eligible applicants include owners of commercial properties and owners/managers of businesses located within the Town of Williamston.
Grant awards can range from $500 to $2,000. Applicants must match 50% of the total cost or more.

EW Mural Design Contest – Now accepting entries

Envision   Williamston,   in   cooperation   with   Historic   Williamston and the Palmetto   Area   Cultural   Arts   Center,   is sponsoring a  Mural   Design   Competition for downtown Williamston.   The   purpose   of the program is to brighten up the streetscape by adding artwork of two   winners in highly visible locations in the downtown area.
The winner will receive $500 prize money and will be published in The Journal, on multiple Williamston websites and in  print advertisements for the town.
Local artists may submit more than one drawing for consideration but must be at least age 14 to enter.
The deadline for submitting artwork is Dec. 8, 2017 and the winning artwork will be announced on Jan. 15, 2018.
“We are hoping to have the mural installed and the grand reveal of the murals by May, 2018,” said Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall.
The locations have been selected and are on the entry form.
“So if you have creative juices and artistic talent and would like to have your artwork on display in the downtown area, please pick up your Mural Guideline Package at Town Hall of you can view and print them online at envisionwilliamston.com,” Crandall said.
