Adopt A Rest Stop Program
Envision Williamston recently unveiled a project to help beautify the Downtown Historic Corridor of the Town of Williamston. The first of 12 sites planned as part of the “Adopt a Rest Stop” program was created with private funds provided by Ace Hardware and the generous donation of time and talent from Ragsdale’s Decks. The first site includes a pergola, bench seating, and decorative planters. It is located on East Main Street at Town Square Center parking lot (next to McDonalds).
The purpose of the Adopt a Rest Stop Project is to help beautify the Downtown Historic Corridor of the Town of Williamston. The project will complement the Town’s proposed electronic message board and street banners, creating a vibrant and fresh look to the downtown area. It will encourage greater visitor/pedestrian foot traffic, serve as a catalyst to generate spillover effects from community events held in Mineral Spring Park, and help create an inviting environment for new business development. Any business group located in the downtown may sponsor a “Rest Stop” along Main Street at one of the pre-identified spaces.
