Mural Design Contest Background:

Historic Williamston, The Palmetto Area Cultural Arts Center and Envision Williamston announced a Mural Design Contest in 2017 for a mural project in Williamston. The project is a part of the Williamston Downtown Acceleration Program (WDAP) that is being funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)

A mural is a painting, mosaic, fresco, or other permanent artwork attached or applied directly to the outside of a structure.
Four possible locations in Williamston have been selected as possible site including: 112AW.Main Street
small white building facing the fire station, 17 Pelzer Avenue – Side of Goody’s; 100 E. Main Street former movie theater; and site on Greenville Drive to be determined.
Goals of the project are to produce new murals that re-engage the community, especially youth and local artists, and create new opportunities for muralists.
